Older People Hotspots

According to the latest Census data, the biggest concentrations of the elderly were found in North Norfolk where 33.4% are aged over 65 and in East Devon, where 1.9% of the population are aged over 90.


The area which saw the biggest increase in over-65s was the Derbyshire Dales, up from 22.3% of its population to 28.2% over 10 years. This was followed by Richmondshire and Hambleton in North Yorkshire.


London has moved in the opposite direction as a result of the trend for older people to move to rural and coastal areas.
