Dame Sarah becomes a Barbie Girl

Mattel toys have announced that Professor Dame Sarah Gilbert has been honoured as a ‘Barbie Role Model’ for her work creating the Oxford vaccine.


She has received a lot of attention over the last two years. From being made a Dame to receiving a standing ovation at Wimbledon and she is one of 6 women featured in the Mattel Thank You Hero range of Barbie dolls.


In response to the news he said, “I am passionate about inspiring the next generation of girls and hope that children who see my Barbie will realise how vital careers in science are to help the world around us.”
