Ask our Adviser - What is the Personal Expense Allowance?

When you are entitled to care funding support from the local authority, you are still expected to use your own income to help pay the costs with the state making up the difference.

You are allowed to keep some of your income for day to day use. This is known as the Personal Expense Allowance is the amount and helps to pay for things like toiletries, newspapers and hairdressing.

The amount of the allowance is currently £28.25 per week.
