The Changing Face of Britain

The face of Britain is changing as the population ages, according to recent data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS). The total UK population, taking in the latest estimate for Scotland at 5,470,000, is likely to now be approaching 66 million.

One in six, or 11.1 million, are aged over 65 meaning there are more older people than children for first time in history and around two million more pensioners compared with 2011.
